How dangerous are Vector-borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases?

The major vector-borne diseases, together, account for around 17 percent of all infectious diseases.

Globally every year there are more than 1.000 000 deaths from diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, Schistosomiasis, Human African Trypanosomiasis, Leishmaniasis, Chagas disease and some more.

Additionally many people who survive infections are left permanently debilitated, disfigured, maimed, or blind.
